This is a Fixed Term position for 2 years within the Public Health Team.

The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Public Health team which sits within the newly formed Public Health & Communities Directorate. We are looking to appoint a Public Health Programme Officer on a Fixed Term basis for 2 years as we work together to improve health outcomes for residents. Rochdale Borough has a strong history of cooperation and we seek a dynamic and highly motivated candidate who will work well with a range of partners on our transformational programmes. Rochdale is a forward thinking borough and our Public Health team is at the forefront, tackling key issues like poverty, cardiovascular disease, and health inequalities. You will collaborate with partner organisations and local communities on ground-breaking initiatives to create healthier neighbourhoods for all. This is a fantastic chance to work in a role improving population health outcomes in an area with real needs, as well as real assets. As you can see from the organisation chart in the Job Description, there are a number of opportunities for progression, so this role is ideal for someone looking to build their career in Public Health. You will be joining a friendly team with a great mix of skills and experience and leaders who encourage and support development.

Areas: The role will work across healthcare public health and health improvement. This will include diabetes, CVD and 0-19 services. You will be expected to work closely with primary care, including GPs and pharmacies. This is not an exhaustive list of the job areas. The role will have flexibility and it is likely that you will have the opportunity to be involved in other areas of public health.

About You: The post holder will be an enthusiastic individual with experience of either working in Public Health or Public Health related areas. You will be confident in proactively solving problems alongside being comfortable with analysing both quantitative and qualitative data. You will use your understanding of project management principles to inform your decisions and guide you in your commitment to public health principles. You will be self-motivated and innovative whilst also working well within a team. You will be able to write clearly and produce reports for a variety of audiences. We want someone with a desire to make a real difference to people’s lives, and this role at Rochdale Borough Council will give you the chance to do this. We’re a really nice team, come join us!
