Legal Director – Luxury Hospitality

We are seeking a proactive and commercially-minded business lawyer to support our global luxury hospitality operations and growth of the brand. This is a new role to work with the General Counsel following the creation of the in-house legal function approximately 2 years ago. The ideal candidate will be intelligent and diligent with a curious, can-do approach; a positive attitude; and sound judgement. They will collaborate closely with senior leadership, development and commercial teams, and external stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, solution-orientated legal advice. This role requires strong written and communication skills and an ability to work cross-functionally in an international environment. The workload is varied and no two days are the same, but the job is likely to involve the following: Commercial Contracts
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts including development agreements, licensing and technical services agreements, vendor contracts, SaaS/cloud IT service agreements, marketing/PR/sales contracts, hotel management agreements, branded residences documentation, development leasing and brand partnerships.
- Preparing standard terms and conditions for use by various operational business functions.
Corporate Governance
- Drafting board and shareholder resolutions and other shareholder/investor relations documentation.
- Drafting and updating corporate policies and procedures.
Other
- Advising in relation to ad hoc issues relating to employment, data/privacy and other operational issues.
- Liaising with external counsel (domestic and international) to obtain advice and to communicate that advice effectively within the business.
- Monitoring relevant legal developments and advising the business on emerging risks or opportunities.
Who we are looking for The successful candidate is likely to be a mid-senior lawyer with approximately 4-8 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with either varied high quality private practice and / or in-house experience. They will possess strong technical skills and broad commercial contract/commercial law experience. Exposure to the luxury sector, hospitality, real estate or branded residences sectors is useful but not essential. International experience would be useful but not essential.
