We are seeking a Structural Inspection Engineer on a contract basis to support inspection, assessment, and asset integrity activities within a large industrial facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the condition of structural assets, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting maintenance and refurbishment planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed structural inspections of steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures.
  • Perform condition assessments of industrial buildings, process support structures, pipe racks, platforms, foundations, and ancillary structures.
  • Identify defects including corrosion, cracking, spalling, fatigue damage, settlement, and structural deformation.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including photographic evidence and clear recommendations.
  • Carry out structural assessments and basic calculations to evaluate structural condition and suitability for continued service.
  • Recommend repair, strengthening, or replacement solutions where necessary.
  • Liaise with maintenance, operations, and project teams to coordinate remedial works.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety legislation, and site procedures.
  • Support inspection activities during planned shutdowns.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and contribute to asset integrity management systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Structural inspection experience in industrial/heavy engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of steel and reinforced concrete behaviour.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, conduct assessments, and write technical reports.
  • Good understanding of industrial health & safety.
  • (Desirable) Professional accreditation, NDT experience, asset management systems knowledge.
