The Opportunity
We are looking for experienced Cloud / DevOps Engineers (Mid-Senior Level) to support a busy portfolio of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering and automation projects. We are considering candidates specialising in either of the following areas:
- Azure / Kubernetes DevOps Engineer: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes and cloud automation.
- Snowflake DevOps / Platform Engineer: Strong experience managing, automating and supporting Snowflake environments, working closely with DataOps teams.
Candidates only need expertise in ONE of these areas, not both.
The ideal candidate will be a technically strong, hands-on engineer who takes an Infrastructure as Code-first approach, prioritising automation, security and repeatable deployment processes over manual intervention. This role requires someone who takes ownership of their work, collaborates effectively with engineering teams and delivers solutions that are secure, maintainable and well-documented.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, automate and maintain cloud infrastructure or data platform environments.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform as the primary provisioning and configuration tool.
- Develop and maintain GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and platform deployments.
- Reduce manual intervention by implementing repeatable, version-controlled deployment processes.
- Apply zero-trust security principles and least-privilege access controls across infrastructure and platforms.
- Build security into engineering processes, including identity management, secrets management and access governance.
- Collaborate with platform engineers, architects, security teams and other technical stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, optimise platform reliability and improve operational processes.
- Produce clear technical documentation, deployment procedures and operational runbooks as part of the engineering lifecycle.
- Support knowledge transfer, ensuring delivered solutions can be maintained and operated independently by internal teams.
Specialism 1 - Azure & Kubernetes DevOps Engineer
For candidates specialising in Azure, we are looking for strong hands-on engineering experience across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and automated deployment environments. Key areas include:
- Building, deploying and managing Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Strong practical experience with Kubernetes, ideally Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform.
- Building and maintaining GitHub Actions pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment.
- Managing Azure networking, identity, access controls and security configurations.
- Implementing secure containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Supporting production cloud environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
- Applying zero-trust security, least-privilege access and secure secrets management.
- Producing reusable automation, infrastructure modules and documentation.
Specialism 2 - Snowflake DevOps / Platform Engineer
For candidates specialising in Snowflake, we are looking for strong hands-on experience operating, maintaining and automating Snowflake environments. Key areas include:
- Managing and supporting enterprise Snowflake data platform environments.
- Automating Snowflake platform configuration and provisioning using Terraform.
- Developing GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines to manage Snowflake changes and deployments.
- Working closely with DataOps teams to support data platform delivery and operational requirements.
- Managing Snowflake roles, permissions, access controls and security configurations.
- Implementing repeatable, version-controlled platform changes rather than manual configuration.
- Monitoring Snowflake platform performance, reliability, resource consumption and operational health.
- Applying zero-trust security principles, identity management and least-privilege access controls.
- Producing clear deployment documentation, operational procedures and handover materials.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven commercial experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer or similar.
- Strong hands-on expertise in either Azure/Kubernetes or Snowflake platform operations.
- Excellent Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Strong experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
- A genuine automation-first engineering mindset, minimising manual infrastructure changes.
- Understanding of DevOps principles, version control and repeatable deployment processes.
- Strong knowledge of zero-trust security, least-privilege access and secure identity management.
- Experience delivering reliable, maintainable solutions within production environments.
- Strong documentation skills, treating technical documentation and knowledge transfer as core engineering responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work alongside architects, security teams and other engineers.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within financial services, fintech or highly regulated environments.
- Python, PowerShell or Bash scripting and automation.
- Experience with GitOps and automated infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Experience with cloud/platform monitoring and observability tools.
- Experience supporting large-scale platform transformation or modernisation projects.
- Ability to mentor engineers and improve internal engineering practices.
The initial engagement is for six months, with a strong likelihood of extension and further opportunities across the wider project portfolio. The position can be performed fully remotely, although occasional attendance at the client's Central London office would be beneficial. Please note: We are looking for Cloud / DevOps Engineers specialising in either Azure/Kubernetes OR Snowflake. Experience across both technologies is not required. We are particularly interested in engineers who combine strong hands-on technical expertise with an Infrastructure as Code-first mindset, security-conscious engineering practices and a collaborative approach to delivery.
