Roc Search are hiring for a Chief Operating Officer to work for our client who are a rapidly growing international renewable energy developer with an expanding portfolio of utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Overview

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for leading the operational performance of the business on a global scale.

This is a board level appointment with responsibility for ensuring the successful execution of projects, optimising business operations, developing high performing teams and implementing scalable processes that support continued international growth.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of operational leadership within renewable energy, infrastructure or major capital projects, alongside the ability to drive organisational excellence across multiple geographies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic operational leadership across the organisation, ensuring alignment with the company's long term business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution and delivery of a global portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Lead project delivery, construction, engineering, procurement and operational functions to maximise performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement scalable operational processes, governance frameworks and best practices across international markets.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives, standardisation and performance optimisation.
  • Build, mentor and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams across multiple regions.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute the company's global growth strategy.
  • Establish and monitor key operational KPIs, reporting business performance to the Board and investors.
  • Manage organisational risk, ensuring robust compliance, governance and health & safety standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with Development, Commercial, Finance, Legal and Investment teams to ensure seamless project execution from origination through to operation.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including investors, contractors, EPC partners, suppliers, regulators and strategic partners.
  • Support M&A activity, international expansion and integration of new business operations where required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Project Management or a related discipline (MBA advantageous).
  • Significant executive leadership experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities or large scale capital projects.
  • A proven track record of successfully leading complex operational businesses through periods of rapid growth.
  • Extensive experience overseeing the delivery of large utility-scale solar, BESS, power generation or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance operational excellence and strategic business objectives.
  • Experience managing international operations and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Demonstrable success implementing operational processes, governance frameworks and business transformation initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with executive boards, investors and senior stakeholders.
