We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to serve as the main technical and quality authority on site for a key construction project within the energy sector. This is a site-based role responsible for overseeing installation activities and ensuring full compliance with project, quality, and HSEQ requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate onsite installation works in line with project specifications, quality standards, and HSEQ requirements
  • Act as the primary technical and quality focal point on site
  • Monitor and inspect subcontractor activities, including high-pressure gas pipework; HV/LV electrical installations (up to 15.7kV); civil and mechanical works
  • Review, comment on, and approve Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Manage Technical Queries (TQs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), reporting progress to the Project Manager
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including PSSR, BS 7671, DSEAR, and CDM 2015
  • Conduct daily site inspections, audits, and quality reviews

Requirements

  • HND or BEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong site-based experience within power generation or heavy industrial projects
  • Good working knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and industrial gas installations
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical installation standards, particularly regarding 400V and 15.7kV distribution
  • Confident communicator with strong site coordination skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely

Desirable

  • COMAH and/or PSSR awareness
