Senior Project Manager – Electrical Transmission

Join a leading UK energy infrastructure provider working at the forefront of the transition to net zero. This organisation delivers end-to-end solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, metering, and home decarbonisation.
In this role, you\’ll be part of a specialist Electrical Transmission management team, responsible for delivering high-voltage substation and transmission projects – up to and including 400kV – for major clients including National Grid and SSE.
What you\’ll be doing
- Lead the construction team in delivering a portfolio of M&E projects from initiation to completion.
- Provide strategic health, safety, and environmental leadership to achieve the highest standards.
- Deliver projects to agreed time, cost, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with the planning team to ensure robust delivery programmes and progress tracking.
- Build a cohesive project management team ethos across Construction, Commercial, Design, and Engineering.
- Drive proactive risk management and timely resolution of technical and contractual matters.
- Contribute to tender bids with industry insight and expertise.
- Support monthly cost value reconciliations with the Commercial Manager.
- Lead the team to achieve financial targets and deliver against key performance measures.
What you\’ll bring
- 5+ years\’ proven leadership on large design-and-build projects, managing cross-functional teams.
- National Grid substation build experience, including knowledge of NG SRs, Rules, EPC/M&E frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with clients and suppliers.
- Construction/engineering qualification and/or relevant experience.
- Project management certification (APM, PMP, or equivalent).
- Strong commercial experience with NEC contracts (especially Option C).
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk and opportunity effectively.
- Sound regulatory knowledge (HSWA, CDM, EAWR, etc.).
- Budget management experience with a track record of delivery to time and cost.
- Proficiency in project management software.
