A leading government organisation is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Manager to take ownership of a high-performing electronics development team delivering advanced, specialist technology solutions.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in electronics design who has moved into team leadership role who is not looking to step up to a bigger team with bigger opportunities . The organisation operates in a secure, innovative environment where no two projects are the same. The work is highly specialised and impacts national-level objectives.
The Role
As Electronics Design Manager, your core responsibility will be to lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of electronics engineers. You will ensure that your team delivers complex electronic systems and products on time, to specification, and in support of operational needs.
You will use your own experience in electronic systems development to guide the team, communicate effectively with senior technical stakeholders, and maintain momentum through the full lifecycle of each project-from concept to deployment.
Typical activities will include stakeholder engagement, programme planning, project reviews, supplier management, and overseeing technical delivery. You will also be accountable for allocating resources, managing budgets, and ensuring engineering best practices are applied consistently.
Essential Experience
We are specifically seeking candidates who can demonstrate:
- Proven leadership and people management of an electronics development team
- Delivery of complex electronics programmes from requirements gathering through to operational deployment
- Strong technical background in electronics design , including hands-on experience in areas such as:
- PCB design and schematic capture
- Embedded systems (hardware and software)
- RF, audio, or IP-based systems
- Miniaturised or bespoke electronics development
Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Chartered Engineer status desirable)
