We are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking manufacturing business based on the Isle of Wight. They are seeking a Test Development Engineer to join their growing Engineering team. This is a vital role that ensures production continues to run smoothly through rapid fault diagnosis and repair of test systems, while also contributing to the design and development of new, more effective test equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support β Keeping Production Moving
Act as the first point of contact for technical issues related to production test systems.
Rapid triage, diagnosis, and repair of faults with test equipment and fixtures to minimise downtime.
Work closely with Operations to maintain maximum test system uptime.Test Equipment Design & Development
Support the design and development of test equipment, including manual and automated solutions, development and qualification jigs.
Collaborate with the Principal Engineer on creating new test systems for evolving product lines.Continuous Improvement & Documentation
Maintain and improve all relevant documentation relating to test systems and procedures.
Drive ongoing improvement projects to enhance reliability, usability, and performance of current test platforms.
Support software and hardware upgrades across existing test setups.Skills & Experience Required:
Strong understanding of manual and automated test equipment (ATE).
Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic ability, especially in fast-paced production environments.
Familiarity with in-circuit testing principles and manufacturing effectiveness testing.
Hands-on engineering approach with an interest in improving both hardware and software systems.
Ability to balance immediate production support needs with long-term test development objectives.
