We are looking for a lead engineer to join our team across Design, Technical Support, and Contracts Engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Technical Delivery
- Produce mechanical designs, calculations, and technical documentation in line with customer requirements and engineering standards
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry, safety, environmental, and legal standards
- Take ownership of design work from concept through to manufacture support
- Compliance, Quality & Risk
- Apply strong engineering judgement to manage technical and H&S risk
- Support quality initiatives and ensure accurate, right-first-time outputs
- Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Technical & Business Support
- Provide engineering input across Sales, Operations, and wider business functions
- Support technical issue resolution across group companies
- Attend internal and external meetings to support project delivery
- Continuous Improvement & Delivery
- Support engineering strategy and departmental KPIs
- Contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and high engineering standards
- Essential
- BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Proven experience in mechanical design within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to take ownership of technical work and deliver complex engineering solutions
- Competent in 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD, Creo or similar)
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving ability
- Understanding of engineering standards, legislation, and safety requirements
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems

- Working towards or holding IEng / CEng status
- Experience in technical authority or design approval responsibilities
- Experience working with customers and suppliers on technical matters
