Join RoC Consulting, part of the RSK Group, a leading award‑winning consultancy based in the heart of Manchester offering civil and structural engineering services. We are looking for a graduate +2 years through to near chartered status to join our established team. The primary function of a Structural Engineer will entail producing design calculations for building structures in all common materials, under the supervision of a senior or principal engineer. The role will also involve survey and assessment of existing structures, communication of design details and concepts via sketches and drawings, checking designs produced by others, liaising with architects, contractors and other construction professionals and attending site as required.
Responsibilities
- Produce design calculations for new and existing structures and check design calculations produced by others.
- Produce sketch drawings as required to communicate design concepts and construction details.
- Review and check drawings, including RC detail drawings, to ensure that the design information is correct prior to issue.
- Produce specifications and reports.
- Undertake site surveys to accurately assess and appraise as‑built details of existing structures and prepare sketches of the same.
- Undertake construction site inspections to check the quality of workmanship and compliance of construction with the drawn details.
- Liaise with architects, contractors and other construction professionals.
- Attend site meetings with contractors and professional team members.
- Comply with the company’s Quality Assurance procedures.
- Undertake training and initial professional development (IPD) as required.
Person Specification
- BEng or MEng in civil and/or structural engineering.
- Aiming to become a Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE.
- Structural Engineering design experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
