This leadership role is responsible for the overall management, security, reliability, and strategic development of the organisation's information systems and IT infrastructure.
The role leads the IT team, ensuring high-quality technical support, secure operations, and the effective delivery of technology services that support business objectives.
You will manage the IT team, including the IT Lead Administrator, a Front of House IT Support apprentice and third-party support; providing leadership, mentoring, workload management, and performance oversight while ensuring exceptional service to all users.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, manage and develop the IT team.
- Set objectives, monitor performance, conduct regular reviews and annual appraisals.
- Allocate work and prioritise support requests.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance.
- Foster a customer-focused and collaborative team culture.
- Manage recruitment, training and succession planning where appropriate.
Form a strong working relationship with the Finance Director, providing regular operational and strategic updates.
- IT Operations
- Ensure the availability, performance and reliability of all IT systems.
- Oversee servers, networks, cloud services and business applications.
- Manage hardware and software lifecycle planning.
- Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures.
- Ensure disaster recovery and business continuity plans remain current.
- Information Security
- Achieve and maintain cyber security standards and best practices.
- Monitor security risks and implement appropriate controls.
- Manage user access, permissions and identity management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
- Coordinate incident response and recovery.
- Service Delivery
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of IT issues.
- Monitor service desk performance and user satisfaction.
- Escalate and manage major incidents.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT services and processes.
- Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement the organisation's IT strategy.
- Recommend technology investments aligned with business goals.
- Plan infrastructure upgrades and digital transformation initiatives.
- Manage IT budgets both P&L and capex and initiate procurement requests.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
- Monitor vendor performance and value for money.
- Project Management
- Lead IT projects from planning through implementation.
- Coordinate system upgrades, migrations and deployments.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Work collaboratively with Departmental Managers to support their business needs and support new developments in technology led product offerings.
- Support ongoing AI initiatives, ensuring necessary infrastructure and security is in place with a focus on database management and a general understanding of departmental procedures.
- Context of the Role
The role works as part of the Management Teams of the Robson Group and closely with the Directors/Presidents of these companies to ensure the delivery of technology services, monitor company performance, support decision making in the pursuit of the companies’ goals and ensure adherence of legislative compliance both in the UK and USA.

- Proven experience managing an IT team, knowledge and understanding in a similar role plus a relevant qualification at degree level and pursued ongoing industry standard training courses.
- Have proficient leadership, organisational and management skills with experience of managing a team.
Ability to manage teams and employees effectively and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Be able to review, enhance and develop business procedures and orderly approach to processing.
- Experience with cyber security principles.
- Experience managing IT infrastructure and cloud technologies.
- Proficient knowledge of information systems with strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure and networking.
- Strong organisational, negotiation, communication, collaborative and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and drive for continual improvement.
