We are seeking a highly organised and efficient Legal Secretary / Probate Assistant to provide vital administrative support within our busy and growing Private Client team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing files, correspondence, preparing legal documents, liaising with clients and ensuring smooth office operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail to contribute to a professional legal environment. The position is paid with 22 days holiday and full Christmas shutdown and is ideal for candidates looking to develop their career in the legal sector.
Responsibilities
- Manage probate files and day to day issues.
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform audio typing of dictations, notes, and other legal materials efficiently.
- Manage schedules, appointments, and deadlines using Microsoft Outlook to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Organise and maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
- Liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and external agencies through clear communication channels.
- Support the team with administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls professionally, taking messages or redirecting enquiries as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with firm policies.
Requirements
- Proven administrative experience, preferably within a legal or professional environment.
- Full training given.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in audio typing at a high speed with accuracy.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
