Coding & Robotics Instructor (Children 6 to 17)

RobocodeUK Limited | 115, 121 High St S, London E6 3PA (on site) | Sessional, term-time: weekday evenings and weekends | Competitive pay, depending on experience

Teach children to build things, not just consume them

Robocode teaches coding, robotics, AI, game development, cyber security and 3D printing to children aged 6 to 17. We are Ofsted-registered, our courses lead to real accredited qualifications (BCS, AQA, WJEC), and we are a Microsoft in Education Global Training Partner. We are looking for Instructors to teach our term-time classes.

The curriculum is fully prepared: lesson content, pace and assessments are provided, with proper training before you teach unsupervised, and ongoing coaching from our Head Teacher. What you bring is subject competence, patience, energy in front of a class, and genuine care for children's progress.

This is sessional work, contracted per class, and it grows: strong instructors take on more classes, holiday camps and new courses, and our centre leadership roles are filled from within wherever we can.

What you'll do

  • Teach engaging, hands‑on classes from our prepared curriculum: coding, robotics, game development, AI, cyber security or 3D printing depending on your strengths
  • Differentiate in the room: stretch quick finishers, support strugglers, and adapt properly for SEN and neurodiverse learners (our classes are SEND-friendly by design)
  • Manage behaviour calmly and fairly, and follow our safeguarding procedures exactly
  • Keep registers accurate and record progress evidence for every child, every session: our children work toward real qualifications, so the records matter
  • Prepare children for their accredited assessments, and flag early anyone at risk of falling behind
  • Give parents a specific sentence at pickup about what their child did today
  • Arrive early enough to have the room and kit ready, and reset it for whoever teaches next

What we're looking for

  • Real competence in at least one of our subject areas: coding (e.g. Scratch, Python, web), robotics, game development, AI, cyber security or 3D printing
  • Experience working with children or young people in any structured setting: teaching, tutoring, coaching, clubs or youth work
  • Clear, patient communication: able to explain technical ideas to a 7-year-old and stretch a 15-year-old
  • Calm, fair behaviour management and genuine warmth with children
  • Reliable and punctual, every class, every week
  • Available weekday evenings and weekends during term time
  • Right to work in the UK

Nice to have: a degree or strong background in computer science, engineering or a related STEM field; experience with SEN or neurodiverse learners; experience teaching toward accredited qualifications. None of these are essential; we train thoroughly.

What we offer

  • Competitive sessional pay, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Full training on our curriculum, systems and safeguarding before you teach unsupervised
  • Ongoing observation, coaching and development from our Head Teacher
  • Hours that grow with your classes, plus holiday camp work between terms
  • A genuine route into centre leadership: we promote from within
  • Work that matters: helping children become creators, not just consumers of technology

Robocode is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and our safer recruitment checks.

Expected hours: No more than 16.0 per week
