Want a fun and worthwhile job working with children? Robinwood is an award-winning provider of residential outdoor activity courses for primary schools. We are currently looking for fun and outgoing people to work as Group Leaders (Activity Instructors) for our Barhaugh Hall centre, near Alston, Cumbria, with a start date of January 12th.
Group Leading at Robinwood is more than being an outdoor activity instructor. Our Group Leaders use themed and adventurous activities to develop children over a three-day course. In short, you’ll be giving children memories that could last a lifetime and developing skills to help them at the KS2 level and beyond.
As you invest in the children, we invest in you, developing your skills through an industry-leading training and development programme. Whether staying as a Group Leader, moving up to senior positions or moving into a different career, being a Robinwood Group Leader will provide you with skills that will last you a lifetime.
We are proud to be an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer, hold the Investors in People Gold award and to have been in the Best Companies ‘Top 100 Companies to Work For’ since 2014. Always looking to the future and striving to improve in whatever way we can for both our customers and our staff, Robinwood became an employee-owned company in November 2024.
Starting salary is £13.00 per hour (a 33 hour per week contract), increasing with time served and responsibility.
Reasons to work for Robinwood:
- Best Pay: We offer all our staff, regardless of age, a real living wage. Everyone contributes equally towards the success of our courses, and therefore, we do not discriminate based on age or offer apprenticeship schemes. As well as free meals, profit-related bonuses and a house purchase assistance scheme.
- Best Team: For many people who work with us, the friends they have made here are a headline reason why they love the job so much. Everyone at Robinwood starts as a Group Leader and is appointed based on their values.
- Best Training: Our values-based appointment process means you have what it takes to be a great Robinwood Group Leader; we’ll teach you the rest! You can expand your skill set by obtaining paid-for nationally recognised qualifications in archery, paddle sports, and climbing, among other areas.
- Best Wellbeing: We have pledged a Wellbeing Commitment that covers 12 key areas, including timetable shift patterns, at least two consecutive days off a week, line manager support, holidays and communication.
- Best Lifestyle: We only offer permanent, year-round contracts. We balance your hours across the year, meaning that you get paid every month, even during your 12 weeks off a year.
- Best Awards: Our fantastic staff provision has won numerous awards, proving that we are as good as our word.
We welcome applications from positive, enthusiastic people who have some experience (paid or voluntary) working with children. If you have an ability to relate to 7-11 year-olds and tell a good story, you could be the person for us.
