JOB OVERVIEW

Robinsons are looking to recruit a Structural Steel Fabricator/ Welder to join our production department based at our premises in Lockerbie in the manufacture of a variety of bespoke fabrications and structural steelwork.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and work specifications.
  • Fabricating/Welding various steel components and steel structures.
  • Ensure all dimensions are checked, verified, recorded on dimensional reports and signed.
  • Perform visual examinations of completed welds for compliance prior to being examined by the QA Supervisor.
  • Working accurately and efficiently with a high attention to detail.
  • Taking responsibility for time management and scheduling to make sure jobs are completed on time.
  • Hand weld steelwork using methods such as MIG and MAG.
  • Assist with measuring, marking and preparation of steelwork.
  • Clean and degrease parts to be welded using wire brushes, grinders, or solvents.
  • Safely operate equipment and hand tools daily.
  • Maintain the production area to ensure a safe, clean and tidy working area.
  • Comply with the company’s policies & procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Work overtime when required.
  • Undertake additional duties as and when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role.
  • Understand Health & Safety within the workplace.
  • Ability to weld using one or two different methods.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • MIG welding: 3 years (required)
  • Fabrication: 3 years (required)
