JOB OVERVIEW
Robinsons are looking to recruit a Structural Steel Fabricator/ Welder to join our production department based at our premises in Lockerbie in the manufacture of a variety of bespoke fabrications and structural steelwork.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and work specifications.
- Fabricating/Welding various steel components and steel structures.
- Ensure all dimensions are checked, verified, recorded on dimensional reports and signed.
- Perform visual examinations of completed welds for compliance prior to being examined by the QA Supervisor.
- Working accurately and efficiently with a high attention to detail.
- Taking responsibility for time management and scheduling to make sure jobs are completed on time.
- Hand weld steelwork using methods such as MIG and MAG.
- Assist with measuring, marking and preparation of steelwork.
- Clean and degrease parts to be welded using wire brushes, grinders, or solvents.
- Safely operate equipment and hand tools daily.
- Maintain the production area to ensure a safe, clean and tidy working area.
- Comply with the company’s policies & procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
- Work overtime when required.
- Undertake additional duties as and when required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Previous experience of working in a similar role.
- Understand Health & Safety within the workplace.
- Ability to weld using one or two different methods.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- MIG welding: 3 years (required)
- Fabrication: 3 years (required)
