We are looking for a qualified rural practice surveyor to take responsibility for a range of jobs within our Rural Property and Business team. The role would suit an individual with less than five years’ post qualification experience, but we would consider those with more experience looking for a change. The ideal candidate will:

• Have an interest in and knowledge of rural affairs and agriculture
• Be CAAV qualified or working towards it
• Be a RICS Registered Valuer or able to apply for registration
• Have the ability to develop personal client relationships
• Meet targets and deadlines
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills, numeracy and literacy
• Be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office packages
• Be able to deal with a range of problems and challenges
• Have good personal skills and be able to deal with people at all levels
• Be able to demonstrate initiative and take responsibility whilst working within parameters
• Have excellent attention to detail and a desire to strive for excellence
• Have a flexible approach to working and learning and be willing to work outside normal office hours when required
• Have a full driving licence and a vehicle with appropriate business insurance

Key responsibilities:

• Provide general rural property and business advice and information to farmers, landowners and commercial landlords to include:
  • Landlord and tenant matters including lettings, renewals and rent reviews for rural and commercial properties
  • Preparation of valuations of rural and commercial land and property
  • Grant schemes
  • General estate management of rural and commercial properties
• Advice on compensation for compulsory purchase, wayleaves and easements
• Build and maintain good relationships with clients and the rural community and to be well informed on all issues affecting the countryside.
• Undertake promotion and marketing of the firm through attendance at events and seminars, and preparation of publicity material.
