Do you work in sales but also have a wide knowledge of building products? Are you looking to join a close-knit, motivated and expanding business? In this primarily office-based role you would be working within a small but dynamic sales team, selling a vast array of quality building products to the good people and trades folk of East Yorkshire. The available position would suit someone with experience in sales and office work but it is essential that they also have a good level of knowledge about the construction industry and building materials. They need to be an excellent communicator with high levels of customer service and work well with others as well as being self-motivated and able to think on their feet. The successful candidate will need to be meticulous and proactive in developing customer relations and dealing with orders from creation to fruition.
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4/5pm and alternate Saturday mornings, 8am-12 noon. There may also be an occasional requirement to attend site visits and networking events, in which a company vehicle would be provided.
Role and responsibilities
- Has extensive knowledge of building materials (ideally both light and heavy side)
- Is confident and friendly with the ability to offer high levels of customer service
- Is a team player with excellent communication skills
- Is organized with excellent time management capabilities
- Is proactive in developing both new and existing customer relations
- Has good knowledge of basic computer use
- HGV and FLT licenses are preferable but not essential
- Is self-motivated and diligent
Responsibilities will include:
- Serving customers (via the trade counter/phone/email)
- Preparing quotes and upselling
- Following up on quotes and generating them into orders
- Account management
- Account development and networking
- Liaising and negotiating with suppliers
- Stock monitoring and ordering
- Office/Shop Housekeeping
