About the team + role
Robinhood’s legal team is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our Privacy & Data Protection Legal team. This role reports directly to our Head of Privacy, Legal and will lead our EMEA privacy legal efforts. We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility and a sense of humor. You will help lead our efforts to embed privacy principles in our strategic and tactical processes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company and contribute to our mission to democratize finance for all.
What you’ll do
- Use your subject matter expertise in areas of privacy and data protection laws including GDPR, the e-Privacy Directive and other global privacy and data protection laws to advise on their impact on Robinhood’s businesses and to support international product expansion
- Support the business in expansion efforts in EMEA
- Assist product lawyers in providing risk-based counseling on privacy and data protection laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on innovative product features and support operations
- Provide privacy guidance on marketing and ad-tech initiatives
- Draft and oversee the development and management of Robinhood’s data policies and practices
What you bring
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
- 7+ years of legal experience, including top law firm experience and in-house tech experience focusing on privacy law
- Experience leading EMEA privacy in-house
- Experience providing risk-based counseling on GDPR and other data protection laws and regulations
- Experience with consumer-facing technology and/or financial services companies
- Track record of developing practical solutions to novel problems
- Exceptional project management skills
