Robert Walpole & Partners (RWP) is seeking a Structural Engineer with UK-based experience in water and wastewater infrastructure to support our expanding portfolio of detailed design projects. This role will involve designing and assessing civil structures related to pipelines, pumping stations, treatment plants, and associated infrastructure in collaboration with our Water and Wastewater teams.Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design & Analysis
- Deliver structural designs for water-related assets including:
- Pumping stations
- Below-ground and above-ground tanks
- Chambers and culverts
- Pipe support structures
- Concrete thrust blocks and anchorages
- Perform structural analysis and checks using Eurocodes and relevant UK design standards.
- Develop structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications for permanent and temporary works.
- Ensure integration of structural solutions within the overall civil design context (e.g., buried pipelines, production site civils, trunk mains).
- Deliver structural designs for water-related assets including:
- Project Support
- Collaborate with Senior Civil Engineers to align structural design with hydraulic, geotechnical, and environmental constraints.
- Provide technical input during the planning and optioneering phases of infrastructure projects.
- Support condition surveys and structural assessments of existing assets to inform rehabilitation and renewal strategies.
- Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, environmental, and M&E engineers.
- Contribute to client meetings and design reviews.
- Coordinate with contractors to provide buildable and efficient structural solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- 3+ years’ experience in structural design within the UK water or infrastructure sector.
- Familiarity with reinforced concrete, steelwork, and buried structures.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and structural analysis tools (e.g., TEDDS).
- Understanding of relevant standards: Eurocodes, BS EN, and Water Industry design specifications.
- Working toward or achieved Chartered status (IStructE/ICE) is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
