Contract: Full-time, permanent

Annualised Hours:

  • 1st April - 31st Oct: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5pm, Friday 7am - 2.30pm
  • 1st Nov - 31st March: Monday - Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday OFF

Your new role

What you'll do:

  • Carry out a range of grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks e.g. grass cutting, raking, edging, weeding, sweeping, litter picking, chemical application, planting & laying turf etc.
  • Operate a wide range of vehicles, plant and equipment including vehicle attached machinery, pedestrian and ride-on machinery and hand held equipment.
  • Undertake daily routine safety and maintenance checks ensuring that vehicles, machinery and equipment used is well maintained, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or theft.
  • Use approved equipment and follow manufacturer’s recommended guidelines and application rates when undertaking the application of Herbicides/Pesticides, ensuring that all defined areas are maintained to the required standards. PA1 & PA6 certification for use and application of chemicals would be an advantage.
  • Complete documents relating to the role of the post e.g. daily work records, vehicle/equipment defect reporting and client PPM schedules.
  • Liaise with Client Representatives and Contract Managers ensuring positive constructive relationships based on good service delivery.
  • In the absence of the Team Leader liaise with the Grounds Team to ensure required standards are achieved.
  • Ensure that all equipment and work areas are left secure and barriers locked.
  • Undertake visual inspections of all work areas prior to commencement of maintenance tasks ensuring compliance with approved safety standards.
  • To operate at all times with safe working practices with due regard to Health & Safety Regulations, COSHH, Environmental issues and Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and policies and procedures of RFM.
  • Maintain an awareness of RFM’s Policies, Procedures and objectives related to the successful delivery of the Grounds Maintenance service.
  • Candidate may be required to carry out some hard landscaping tasks i.e slabbing, fencing etc.
  • Work flexibly within the wider RFM team undertaking any other duties assigned by the Grounds Manager in connection with RFM’s operational requirements.
  • Candidate may be required to carry out winter gritting operations within working hours during the winter period. This may also include working outside their normal working hours and being available for standby/callout.

What you'll need:

  • The post holder may hold a professional vocational qualification in a Grounds Maintenance discipline or have equivalent experience, and preferably from a commercial contracting background would be an advantage.
  • A trailer license would be an advantage and certificates of competence in compact tractor operations and use of tractor mounted implement, ride-on and self-propelled pedestrian mowers, strimmers, brush cutters and hedge cutters.
  • The post holder may hold a certificate of competence for pesticides spraying (PA1 & PA6).
  • The post holder will have experience of undertaking landscaping and grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting within a professional environment. Desirable experience in soft landscaping, hard landscaping experience would be an advantage.
  • The post holder may have good knowledge of compact tractors and their attachments, mowing equipment and associated plant and their maintenance requirements.
  • A full UK driving license is a requirement for this role.
  • The successful candidate will require a PVG/Disclosure Check.

Who we’re looking for:

The post holder will be required to manage and deliver a Grounds Maintenance service to contracts in the Aberdeenshire and Inverness-shire area.

The post holder will be required to undertake a range of grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks including use of compact tractors and mounted implements, ride-on and self-pedestrian machines, powered hand tools and equipment.
