We are seeking an ambitious Financial Controller to join our team in Stirling, supporting a diverse portfolio of companies. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will lead a small team and take ownership of financial reporting, governance, board support, financial modelling, and stakeholder management. This is a unique opportunity to broaden your experience beyond traditional financial control and develop specialist expertise in PPP and project finance. Whether you already have PPP experience or are looking to develop in this area, we will provide the training and support needed to help you succeed.
As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity, governance and performance of a portfolio of companies. You will work closely with senior management, boards, shareholders, lenders and external advisers, providing insight and financial leadership across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts across a portfolio of companies.
- Manage month-end close processes, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee invoicing, payments and project-related financial transactions.
- Manage treasury activities, cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax requirements.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting and business planning activities.
- Maintain and enhance operational project financial models.
- Monitor key financial ratios and compliance with funding agreements.
- Assist with financial modelling for new projects, funding structures and business opportunities.
- Analyse project viability, funding requirements and investment returns.
- Prepare statutory accounts and manage annual audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with Companies House requirements and statutory obligations.
- Support governance, risk management and insurance activities.
- Ensure all reporting deadlines and lender obligations are met.
- Lead, support and develop a team of accountants and administrative staff.
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
- Strong background in financial reporting and management accounting.
- Excellent Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
- High levels of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
- Positive, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Desirable
- Experience within PPP, PFI, infrastructure or project finance environments.
- Knowledge of SPV accounting structures.
- Experience of board reporting and governance activities.
- Understanding of company secretarial responsibilities.
- Experience dealing with lenders, investors or external funders.
