Investment Banking Associate - FIG - Elite Boutique

We are working with an elite boutique investment bank to recruit an Associate for its London-based Financial Institutions Group (FIG). This is an opportunity for a technically strong, commercially minded banker to take on meaningful responsibility within a specialist advisory team. Working closely with senior bankers, you will contribute to transaction execution and origination, developing relationships with clients across the financial services sector. The position would suit someone who enjoys working in a lean deal team, takes ownership of their work and is looking to deepen their FIG expertise.

The role

As an Associate, you will play a central role in delivering advisory mandates, with responsibilities including:

• Transaction execution: Managing key workstreams across M&A and strategic advisory assignments, coordinating due diligence and liaising with clients, counterparties and other advisers.
• Financial analysis and valuation: Building and reviewing financial models, assessing transaction structures and applying valuation methodologies appropriate to financial institutions.
• Origination and client engagement: Preparing pitch materials, management presentations and sector analysis, translating detailed financial work into clear, commercially relevant advice.
• Team development: Supporting and reviewing the work of Analysts, maintaining high standards of accuracy and helping manage competing transaction deadlines.

Your background

We are interested in speaking with candidates who offer:

• Relevant investment banking experience, with a strong grounding in M&A execution and previous exposure to FIG transactions.
• Knowledge of one or more financial services subsectors, such as banking, insurance, asset and wealth management, or specialty finance.
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, including an understanding of financial institutions’ business models, regulatory capital considerations and key performance drivers.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the confidence to take responsibility within a demanding, collaborative environment.
