Data Center Technician - Barnsley We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join a growing technology team responsible for building, configuring, testing, and deploying enterprise IT infrastructure solutions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and hardware integration projects in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Build and configure server, storage, and networking equipment. Assemble and integrate enterprise rack solutions to customer specifications. Install hardware components including memory, storage, NICs, and power infrastructure. Perform hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component replacement. Complete BIOS, firmware, and software updates across multiple vendor platforms. Install and manage cabling, labelling, and rack elevations to a high standard. Conduct system testing, quality control checks, and hardware validation. Support data centre deployments, project builds, and customer onboarding activities. Work from technical documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and customer requirements. Capture asset information, MAC addresses, licensing details, and build documentation. Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery. Assist with inventory processing, order modifications, and shipping readiness. Maintain compliance with security, quality, and operational standards. What We're Looking For: Experience with servers, storage, networking, or IT infrastructure. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret technical documentation and diagrams. Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused mindset. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Experience with rack builds, structured cabling, and hardware installations is highly desirable.
