The Role

This is an opportunity for a technically-minded engineer to support a wide range of process and improvement projects across a manufacturing environment. You’ll combine hands-on engineering documentation work with practical involvement in project planning, contractor coordination, procurement, and commissioning. Ideal for someone looking to advance their project and process engineering career while contributing to meaningful site improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain P&IDs, equipment schedules, and technical documentation for new and existing processes.
  • Support the delivery of process improvement and transformation projects from concept through to commissioning.
  • Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work, data sheets, and review engineering drawings.
  • Assist with contractor selection, technical assessments, installation supervision, and safety reviews.
  • Participate in risk assessments, method statement reviews, and design safety discussions.
  • Support procurement activities including supplier engagement, technical bid evaluation, and PO preparation.
  • Track project progress, highlight technical issues, and contribute to project close-out documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying process, equipment, and reliability enhancements.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Industrial experience in a manufacturing, process, or engineering environment (approx. 2+ years).
  • Practical understanding of pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pipework, and related mechanical/process equipment.
  • Proven experience producing and updating P&IDs, equipment schedules, and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle from design through installation and commissioning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Proactive, motivated, and committed to technical development.

Nice to Have / Advantageous

  • Experience supporting transformation or site-wide improvement programmes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards relating to process design and mechanical integrity.
  • Hands-on involvement in commissioning or factory acceptance testing.
  • Exposure to risk assessments, HAZOPs, or design safety reviews.
