The Role
This Internal Sales Support role underpins the success of the sales team by ensuring customer orders are processed accurately, queries are handled quickly and communication between departments runs smoothly. You’ll be on the phones and email daily, supporting customers, chasing deliveries and making sure the sales team has everything they need to perform. It’s ideal for someone organised, customer-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the sales team in their day-to-day activities, providing proactive administrative and customer service support.
- Answer incoming calls and emails, ensuring professional communication and accurate message handling at all times.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through regular contact and reliable follow-up.
- Confirm, raise and process sales orders, ensuring accurate entry into internal systems and timely updates to customers.
- Chase and follow up on direct deliveries and stock orders to ensure products arrive on time.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g. logistics, purchasing, finance, sales) to resolve any issues affecting customer orders.
- Prepare quotes for customers and assist with basic account mapping or sales insights for the wider team.
- Provide cover for the sales team during absences and attend customer meetings where required to support the account strategy.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Experience in an internal sales support, sales administration or B2B customer service role where you handled orders and customer queries by phone and email.
- Confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills, comfortable speaking with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and stay calm under pressure.
- Comfortable using CRM and/or order processing systems, along with standard office software (e.g. Outlook, Excel).
- Strong customer focus with a genuine desire to resolve issues quickly and maintain long-term relationships.
- A proactive, “can-do” attitude and willingness to support the wider sales team to achieve targets.
Nice to Have / Advantageous
- Experience working in a technology, IT, distribution or wholesale environment.
- Knowledge of stock management, direct deliveries and working with distributors or resellers.
- Familiarity with a specific CRM or ERP/order management platform (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce or similar).
- Experience supporting external sales or account managers in a field-based sales model.
