Robertson Recruitment are working with a leading manufacturing business in Burton upon Trent to recruit a Maintenance Fitter to join their maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. Alongside carrying out maintenance activities, you will occasionally support production by assisting with machine operation when required.
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment and plant machinery to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance while working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment.
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and carry out effective repairs.
- Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps and associated equipment.
- Assist with machinery changeovers and equipment set-up.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures.
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately.
- Occasionally assist with the operation of production machinery to support the wider team and maintain production output.
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Plant Fitter or similar role.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
- A hands-on approach with the flexibility to support machine operation when required.
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a shift team.
- Mechanical engineering qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential for candidates with strong practical experience.
