Salary: £17.00 per hour (£34,476 per annum)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm (Day Shift)

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Laser Cutter Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day running of our laser cutting department. This is a genuine working supervisor role where you'll lead by example, supporting production on the shop floor while driving quality, productivity and continuous improvement. You'll play a key role in ensuring customer expectations are met, production targets are achieved and your team has the support they need to succeed, while keeping morale and motivation high. We are a well-established precision manufacturer with a reputation for quality, reliability and outstanding customer service. The Role:

  • Supervising the daily operation of the laser cutting department
  • Leading, motivating and supporting the laser cutting team
  • Planning and allocating workloads to meet production schedules
  • Operating and setting laser cutting machinery when required
  • Carrying out first-off inspections and ensuring products meet customer specifications
  • Monitoring quality throughout production and resolving issues promptly
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and improve efficiency
  • Working closely with Programming, Production Planning, Quality and Operations teams
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing members of the team
  • Managing day-to-day people matters, including probation reviews and return-to-work meetings
  • Supporting recruitment and induction of new team members
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture across the department
  • Reporting machinery issues and working with maintenance to minimise disruption
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and performance

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience team leading or supervising a laser cutting department or manufacturing team
  • Extensive experience operating laser cutting machinery
  • A strong understanding of engineering drawings and sheet metal fabrication
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet production deadlines
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • A quality-focused approach with excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience with Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada or similar laser cutting equipment
  • Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
  • Forklift licence
  • First Aid qualification
