Fabrication Supervisor required for growing sheet metal business in Leicester Robertson Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to join a well-established manufacturing business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong people manager with sheet metal fabrication experience to take responsibility for a busy fabrication department.

You will organise, plan and manage the departments workload, ensuring labour, machinery, materials and job information are available to meet production schedules.

You will also maintain high standards across quality, safety, cost and delivery.

Working hours Monday to Friday 07:30am - 16:00pm Key responsibilities Lead, motivate and develop the fabrication team.

Plan and allocate workloads to achieve production and delivery targets.

Check job packs, technical drawings, revisions, materials and component quantities before production begins.

Ensure fabricated products meet customer specifications.

Carry out in-process quality inspections and minimise defects and rework.

Check jobs are complete before they move to the next manufacturing department.

Monitor production progress and expedite priority work where required.

Work closely with engineering, planning and other production departments.

Promote a right first time culture across the team.

Investigate quality issues and support corrective actions.

Maintain training records and departmental skills matrices.

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained and operating effectively.

Complete production and quality documentation accurately.

Conduct appraisals and support performance-management processes.

Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

Ensure health and safety procedures are consistently followed.

The ideal candidate Previous supervisory or first-line management experience within manufacturing.

Strong experience within sheet metal fabrication.

Able to read and understand technical or engineering drawings.

Good understanding of production planning, quality control and continuous improvement.

Confident managing performance, resolving conflict and making decisions.

Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Able to manage several priorities within a fast-paced environment.

A practical, quality-focused and hands-on management style.

Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements.

GCSE-level English and Maths or equivalent.
