Robertson Recruitment are recruiting for a Buyer/Purchaser to join a precision engineering and sheet-metal manufacturing business in Nottingham. This is an important position within the company’s purchasing and supply-chain function. You will be responsible for sourcing materials, components and subcontract services while ensuring the business receives the correct quality, quantity and price within the required timescales. The successful candidate will work closely with production, planning, sales, engineering and finance to support customer orders and maintain an efficient flow of materials through the manufacturing operation.
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00-17:00 (1 hour lunch) or 8:30-17:00 (30 min lunch), Fridays 16:30 finish. Please be aware there can be some flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Purchase raw materials, components, consumables and subcontract services required for production.
- Source materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Raise and process purchase orders accurately using the company’s purchasing or ERP system.
- Review production requirements, stock levels and outstanding orders to determine purchasing priorities.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers and compare price, quality, availability and delivery times.
- Negotiate competitive pricing.
