Robertson Recruitment are working with a leading provider of precision sheet metal fabrication services, delivering high-quality metal components and assemblies to clients across the automotive, construction, and aerospace sectors. As a fettler, you will be responsible for cleaning, finishing, and preparing fabricated metal components for further processing or final assembly. This role is crucial in ensuring that all parts meet quality standards by removing imperfections such as burrs, sharp edges, weld splatter, and surface inconsistencies.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 06:00am - 14:00pm. Overtime available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grind, deburr, sand, and polish metal components using various hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality and tolerance specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings or work instructions to understand finishing requirements.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, coating, or welding as needed.
  • Maintain and operate fettling tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work collaboratively with welders, fabricators, and quality control to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Report any defects or issues to supervisors and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a fettling or metal finishing role (preferred).
  • Knowledge of sheet metal materials and surface finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job cards.
  • Proficient in using grinders, belt sanders, linishers, and other fettling tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to handle manual tasks safely.
