We are looking for a Workshop Team Leader who has a solid background in joinery/carpentry, alongside working with fire doors, to take the lead of our panel shop, guiding a skilled team of 4 technicians. The panel shop is a central part of our production process, handling pressing, cutting, lipping, and CNC machining for doors and other products. If you are already taking the lead on the shop floor, even without the official title, then this is your opportunity to step up, shine, and show what you can do.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and support a close-knit production team within the panel shop to ensure high performance and a positive working culture.
- Oversee pressing, cutting, lipping, CNC machining, and workflow management with a strong focus on quality and fire-door standards.
- Maintain excellent health & safety practices for yourself and your team.
- Ensure panel shop machinery and equipment are kept in safe, efficient working condition.
- Manage deadlines, productivity, and production schedules to keep operations running smoothly.
- Carry out quality checks and sign off orders before release.
- Support stock control, procurement, and forward planning.
- Attend production meetings and provide clear updates on your department's progress.
- Develop your own skillset, and support the development of your team as new projects and opportunities arise.
What We Are Looking For:
- Solid experience in a panel shop or similar joinery manufacturing environment, ideally including fire-door work.
- Previous leadership experience, or the confidence and capability to take that next step.
- Strong organisational and workflow management skills.
- Excellent communication, motivation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience working from manufacturing instruction sheets and basic drawings.
- A proactive, detail-focused approach to quality control.
- Commitment to maintaining high health & safety standards.
- Confidence in stock management, procurement, and planning.
