We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy plant machinery business that is looking to strengthen its Service Engineering team with a skilled Electrical & Hydraulic Service Engineer. This is a field-based role offering extensive training, excellent earning potential, and the opportunity to work on specialist equipment across the UK.
The Role
Following a comprehensive one-month training programme on the company's machinery, you will become a key member of the service team, travelling throughout the UK to diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of heavy plant equipment.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Flexible working hours 40 hours per week
- Start any time from 6:00am, provided contracted hours are completed
- Overtime available at standard rate
You will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing electrical and hydraulic faults on specialist machinery.
- Interpreting PLC fault codes and using technical drawings to identify and rectify faults.
- Reading and understanding hydraulic schematics.
- Identifying and troubleshooting hydraulic components including valves, pumps, motors, cylinders, and associated systems.
- Carrying out repairs, servicing, and maintenance work both on customer sites and in the field.
- Providing technical support and ensuring machinery is returned to full operational condition.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience.
- A solid understanding of PLC systems and fault code diagnostics.
- The ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong hydraulic knowledge with the ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
- A thorough understanding of hydraulic symbols and components including valves, pumps, motors, and associated systems.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on Granulators, Compact Balers and Shears.
- Candidates from a recycling, waste management, heavy plant, or material handling background will be highly regarded.
