Your new role
To implement designated procurement plans to provide and maintain an efficient and effective procurement service to the regional businesses contained within the Robertson Group portfolio.
Duties
- Carry out all aspects of the procurement process in accordance with Robertson Group Procurement and Supply Chain Management Strategy whilst providing additional support to the other members of the Procurement team in the delivery of requirements, under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Procurement.
- Compilation of data relating to supplier responses, highlighting inconsistencies and differences, presenting information and responses in a manner to enable evaluation.
- Line management, including reviewing workload demands, supervision, and providing guidance on procurement processes, procedures, and activities.
- Carrying out supplier evaluations and recommendations for designated procurement exercises.
- Work with and advise project teams on material specifications and value engineered alternatives where appropriate.
- Make shortlist recommendations to the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain and project team, highlighting distinguishing factors between suppliers and the rationale behind recommendations taking account of value adding service to give a whole life cost.
- Lead and support final negotiations with selected suppliers to enable the preparation of contracts/orders and compliance with procurement governance.
- Raise purchase orders for all materials and plant hire requirements in line with company policies and procedures.
- Assist procurement team in relation to procurement process activities assigned to them.
- Liaise with sites to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required.
- Attend site and office-based Bid/Prestart/Project meetings as required.
- Monitor vendor database to ensure that it contains up to date details of available suppliers.
- Manage relationships and Supply Chain agreements with selected suppliers, including renewal; performance; spend; strengths; weaknesses and opportunities.
- Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products.
Qualifications/Relevant Industrial Experience Required:
The role will require substantial experience of complex procurement processes within a construction related environment. Qualified to Level 5 CIPS, degree or equivalent industry experience. An interest in studying towards full MCIPS membership is advantageous. The individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record in managing supplier relationships, negotiation, process compliance, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. The role will require excellent analytical and IT skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making, and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
