Role: Regional Planning Manager

Location:Yorkshire & East Midlands

Your new role

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic development of planning procedures to ensure best practice and robustness, including regional protocol for bid and construction stage planning, programme control and reporting
  • Provide planning support to all regional bids, managing the appraisal and review process to identify programme constraints, statutory and contractual obligations, analyse and manage programme risk, and develop efficient programme and logistics solutions and material in support of bid submissions
  • Support the bid team to achieve commercially attractive tender solutions
  • Liaise with key supply chain to ensure compliance and alignment with programme strategy
  • Co-ordinate / assist in the preparation and presentation of bid appraisal material for regional Board settlement
  • Co-ordinate / assist in the preparation and delivery of Client presentations / interview
  • Manage the transfer of programme intelligence from bid to contract stage, including programme assumptions, resource and output calculations, supply chain agreements, supporting logistics, time risk allowance and opportunity
  • Provide planning support to all live regional projects and ensure procedural compliance
  • Assume an auditing role across all live sites for planning and programming and providing regular updates on risks to the Operations Director
  • Ensure all projects within the region adhere to the philosophy of As-planned versus As-built programme and that project management teams provide updates on a monthly basis giving indication of Client, Contractor and Neutral Risk Events
  • Ensure, in conjunction with the Operations Director, that all projects adopt a Design, Procure and Construct Programme philosophy. Where design does not form part of the contract, assist in producing an initial Information Required Schedule to suit our requirements with the project management team
  • Ensure operational programme reporting follows Critical Path Analysis principles and provides analysis and commentary on consumption of programme float
  • Undertake and prepare delay analysis and collation of reports in conjunction with Project Management Teams
  • Assist Project Management Teams in the development of recovery strategy and re-programming where contract delay/s have been encountered
  • The compilation and updating of a regional project database containing project information, including as-built data, and make available as an internal resource for future programming
  • Lead the review and development of planning software solutions to meet the business needs and manage the allocation of planning software
  • Ensure that the regional planning function is kept abreast of the latest changes in legal opinion and case law averments
  • Any other reasonable task in line with business requirements

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in a leading a Planning team and significant experience in front-end construction project management
  • The ability to operate at a strategic level, reviewing and developing procedures to reflect industry best practice
  • To be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of design, procurement and commercial processes, and the interdependencies and impact on planning and programming
  • To be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of forms of contract, construction law, construction technology, modern construction techniques and time and resource management
