Mobile Maintenance Assistant Location - St Fergus House, Aberdeen, AB21 0LQ Contract: Permanent - Full Time

Your new role

  • Undertake planned, reactive and cyclical maintenance work either independently or under the supervision of the Supervisor or as assistant to a maintenance engineer ensuring all works have been recorded on completion in compliance with the contract conditions.
  • Service and repair including general building maintenance.
  • Installing small tower scaffolding, working at heights within this role or acting as support to other engineering roles; training can be provided.
  • Competent in the use of MEWPS working at height within this role or acting as support to other engineering roles; training can be provided.
  • Undertake maintenance duties in such a manner as to support the objectives of the Client.
  • Ensure the safe operation & storage of all plant, materials, equipment and tools.
  • Undertake emergency cleaning duties as required including accidental spillages, leaks etc.
  • Operate at all times using safe working practices with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Control of Infection, Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and RFM policies and procedures.
  • Maintain asset histories, maintenance records and helpdesk reports, informing the Contract Manager of any follow up action that may be required.
  • Compliance systems checks – As and when required subject to training.
  • Carry out various operational tests and inspections of the facility, specifically those relating to security and access, maintenance and repair and health and safety.
  • Report all accidents and incidents, hazard and near misses as appropriate.
  • To take part in an on-call rota providing 24 hour, 365 day cover to the facilities.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Management Team in connection with RFM’s operational requirements.

What you'll need:

  • Good Building maintenance skills or experience in a similar role.
  • Awareness of health and safety and the need for safe methods of working.
  • IPAF, Pasma, Ladder Association, Manual Handling training required for this role.
  • General knowledge of roof repairing including identifying faults and missing coverings.
  • Some knowledge of plumbing skills, repair of sanitary ware (unblocking sinks and toilets, repairing and replacement of taps, toilet flushers, showers etc).
  • Experience in Managing Permit to Work Systems i.e. Working at Height use of high level and powered access equipment, as well as the use of portable and fixed ladders.
  • Water Management experience of L8 preferred but training will be given.
  • Hard working, reliable, punctual, have good communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will require a PVG/Disclosure Check prior to starting in the role.

Who we’re looking for:

The post holder will work as part of a flexible team with continuing responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive, high quality property maintenance service to all facilities on a prestigious public contract. Post holder must be familiar with the use of PDA working. Each post holder will have a designated core skill and will be expected to lead in this area but will also be expected to undertake any property maintenance work within the post holder’s range of competence. Due to the nature of this role, you may be asked to stay away from home locations, including travelling to the Scottish Islands only as and when required.
