Facilities Manager - Grounds Maintenance
Location: Glasgow / Stirling
Contract: Full time, permanent

Your new role
What you’ll do:
- Lead the planning and execution of vegetation control along depots.
- Manage risks associated with overgrown vegetation, including visibility, fire hazards, and infrastructure damage.
- Lead a team of grounds operatives and winter service staff, ensuring appropriate training and certification (e.g., PTS).
- Manage external contractors and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Promote a safety-first culture and continuous improvement ethos.
- Work with estimating teams to develop consistent a grounds maintenance pricing schedule suitable for both internal and external clients
- Liaise with Client Representatives ensuring positive constructive relationships based on good service delivery
- Practice effective risk management, establishing controls, procedures, health and safety systems, audits etc which ensure that services are compliant with legislation and that contingency plans are in place.
- Maintain an awareness of RFM’s Policies, Procedures and objectives related to the successful delivery of the Grounds Maintenance service.
What you’ll need:
- The postholder will hold a relevant professional vocational qualification/experience in a Grounds Maintenance/Horticulture discipline or have equivalent experience.
- Management of Grounds Maintenance services with practical problem solving, property maintenance and external grounds projects experience will be required.
- The postholder will have experience of hard and soft landscaping.
- Interpretation and implementation of changes to legislation within the context of providing Grounds Maintenance.
- The postholder should be able to display the following competencies:-
- Manage and motivate staff
- Plan and mobilise reliable services
- Balance the need for quality and profit
- Operate effective IT systems
- Plan and deliver effective grounds maintenance programmes
- Prepare budgets and manage expenditure to deliver favourable outcomes
- Communicate effectively at a professional level with client representatives at all levels
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel between sites.
The successful candidate will require a DBS/Disclosure Check.

The Facilities Manager reports to the Contract Manager and will assist them with delegated reporting, budget, management, and meeting tasks. The job holder requires the ability to manage client relations, internal teams, and external suppliers. They will have a motivation to continuously improve all aspects of the operation and deliver quality of service in line with contractual expectations and our business values.
