Your new role
Main Purpose Of The Job:
- Providing excellent and consistent commercial leadership to the RFM Commercial Team and wider business.
- Providing the necessary commercial resource on the resolution of significant contentious items and leading on items as required.
- Delivering commercial improvement across the RFM business by ensuring sufficient and appropriate structures and staffing is in place.
- Commercial direction and support to the RFM Bid Team.
Commercial Leadership
- Operate as the key commercial resource for the RFM SLT.
- Lead on the approach to, and resolution of, contentious items in agreement with the Commercial Director, including a central role in aged debt management and managing risk.
- Ensuring that the commercial team are aligned and competent in this role.
- Drive commercial performance (across the business and at individual project level) by continually reviewing areas for improvement.
- Identify and share areas of best practice from the wider FM industry and within RFM.
- Ensure the business is commercially resilient to external threat through a planned programme of audit.
- Ensure a robust succession plan is in place.
- Deputise for the Commercial Director as and when required.
Commercial Improvement
- Lead the RFM commercial team on commercial improvement activity.
- Deliver a risk-based approach to commercial improvement, reviewing the risk landscape regularly.
- Undertake contract compliance and commercial health check reviews to develop commercial acumen across the business.
- Deliver training to the RFM business on a regular basis, addressing specific issues of risk.
Bid Team Support
- Take ownership of the commercial element of the bid process within the RFM business from lead through to mobilisation.
- Provide commercial leadership and advice to members of the bid team directly or through the commercial team.
- Where required scope, agree price and manage external legal resource.
- Lead the commercial element of contract negotiation through to completion.
- Deliver commercial rigour on bid pricing, including risk evaluation.
- Ensure the effective mobilisation of contracts for the commercial workstream.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree (Quantity Surveying) or relevant FM industry experience.
- Experience of negotiation and/or operation of FM contracts (PFI/PPP/NPD experience desirable but not essential).
- NEC experience.
- High degree of numeracy and literacy.
- Proactive customer focused approach required.
