Senior Estimator - Facilities Management
Location: Normanton Depot, Altofts Road, Normanton, WF6 2XA
Contract: Fixed Term, 3 months
Robertson Facilities Management (RFM) provides hard and soft FM services, grounds maintenance and energy services for single and multi-site locations throughout the UK. We work across sectors including education, healthcare, emergency services and commercial, assuring our customers of high-quality, best value and a sustainable approach.
RFM has grown significantly since its inception in 1999, with a turnover of £181m for FY2025 and employs more than 1500 people. We are now on a growth trajectory, with ambitious plans to grow the business to £300m turnover by 2030. Our plans for growth require RFM to ‘make the market’, and to be at the forefront of high value opportunities in the FM marketplace.
Your new role
What you’ll do:
- Lead on a wide range of complex building, mechanical/electrical and structural disciplines.
- Take responsibility for the provision of a cost-effective Estimating Service to service users, both internal and external.
- Lead in the recruitment of members of the Estimating Team
- Attend meetings and prepare reports to take an active role in the management of the Estimating service, working independently to offer innovative and appropriate solutions and outcomes to service users.
- Take responsibility for the financial accountability of quoted works, ensuring scope requested and quoted is covered by internal or external parties, thus protecting RFM financial interests.
- Develop and specify new work, remedial work and specialist installations to enable in-house or external contractors to deliver the best solutions.
- Ensure that all commissioned work complies with statutory legislation and regulation
- Ensure tendering in line with the contract Tier obligations, recording multiple tendered jobs to evidence appropriately.
- Ensure specified works make best use of resources and consider carbon reduction commitments.
- Provide schedules and estimates to enable building/specialist installation work to be procured effectively and efficiently.
- Advise and direct service users on complex technical issues promoting solutions which promote the best interests of the Company.
- Ensure that commissioned works comply with SLAs and meet KPIs.
- Undertake remedial actions to improve areas of poor performance.
- Directly provide advice on planned, responsive and cyclical maintenance programmes across a wide range of buildings.
- Liaise and direct employees from other service areas to co-ordinate service delivery and site activities.
- Assist and direct in the organisation and implementation of accommodation reviews.
- Ensure the accuracy of prices provided to the Client, in line with the Schedule of Rates.
- Provide detailed reports on performance, financials and efficiencies to the Account Director and senior managers.
- Lead and co-ordinate with key stakeholders to provide governance and compliance checks for all new work submissions.
- To carry out any other ad hoc duties as instructed by the Senior Project Manager.
What you’ll need:
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a team member and leader.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal/written instructions.
- Ability to liaise and work with clients and members of the public
- Ability to travel between the depot and work locations – full clean driving is license
- Previous experience of management, supervision and team leadership
- A good understanding of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
- A confident communicator with good customer service skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload
- Administration skills
- Can demonstrate relevant QS skills
- Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List check
