We are looking for a confident and collaborative Management Accountant to lead our clients' accounts function and play a key role in safeguarding financial health, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business. The Role
As Management Accountant, you will oversee all core financial processes and manage a small finance team, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency across the function. You'll take ownership of monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and statutory compliance, while providing clear, insightful commentary to senior leadership. Your ability to turn financial data into meaningful business insight will directly influence decision-making and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Oversee purchase, sales and nominal ledgers, ensuring accurate processing in line with company policies
- Manage the month-end process including journals, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Produce monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts with clear financial insight
- Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts to support business planning
- Manage cashflow forecasting to ensure operational liquidity
- Oversee payroll and pension administration, ensuring full HMRC compliance
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, P&L and balance sheet reports
- Manage online banking activities, including payment preparation and approvals
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors and financial partners
- Provide weekly management statistics and financial commentary
- Deliver financial analysis and support ad-hoc strategic projects
- Prepare and submit VAT, corporation tax and other statutory returns
- File annual accounts and statements with Companies House
- Oversee insurance renewals and utility contracts to ensure cost control
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Management Accountant
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical capability
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Commercially aware with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Approachable leadership style with experience managing or mentoring a team
- Strong communication skills, able to collaborate across departments
- Comfortable working with financial systems and data (Pegasus experience advantageous but not essential)
