Our team seeks to add another experienced and enthusiastic developer for our novel general-purpose AI platform. Our platform is a recommendation and decision engine that works across a variety of information classes and customer verticals, using advanced techniques in neural networks and machine learning. The platform ingests and organizes data into networks involving data, people, objects and actions. The platform learns, optimizes, and provides a real-time interaction system for querying recommendations and relations, along with dynamic analytics for understanding connections. Top companies use the platform across the enterprise from direct customer product and offer recommendations to back-end corporate decision support needs.

Responsibilities:

  • API integrity: each day, millions of API requests must be received and responded with high performance. A piece of the work will thus involve contributing to the scalability of our platform.
  • Algorithm performance: the quality of our recommendations in turn depends on our algorithm. Another piece of the work therefore involves understanding the key components and differentiators of that algorithm, and continue to evaluate, improve, and grow it.
  • Work with the team to ensure that new functionality is integrated into our orchestration systems - our codebase has converged on Java, Python, and PHP, making use of Linux, AWS, Docker, and Jenkins.

The breadth and generality of the platform offers a fascinating way to engage a host of software skills where the latest in artificial intelligence converges with existing real-world problems. We work with top global companies with fantastic brands that are looking to differentiate themselves with machine intelligence. This role is critical both to our success and theirs.

Our Culture:

We are a small, close, highly technical team. You need to be self-motivated and self-managed. Our customers are top global companies. You need to have the skills required for developing production-grade, high-profile platform. This is an intelligence platform, and you’ve got to be smarter than it. Problem solving skills (debugging, data analysis) are a must. A mathematical or rigorous engineering background is an asset in the types of conceptual challenges that we routinely face. This is a highly technical team. Everyone keeps up with and teaches one another. We communicate in code and prose; you should too. While many skills are transferable, the ability to find and invent creative approaches must be in your toolset.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial software development
  • Highly proficient in one or more of Python, Java, PHP, etc., with experience or interest in others
  • Understanding of REST API concepts.

Other Skills:

  • Experience with unit testing, TDD/BDD, and version control
  • Clear thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Experience with techniques in machine learning, harnessing data for performance, and general algorithm refinement – all pluses
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
  • Experience with source control systems like GitHub and task tracking systems like Jira.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies to improve a core product.
