The Opportunity
We have a vacancy for an experienced 'Finished Goods Stock Controller' for our busy Bakery based at Northwich, Cheshire.
Job Purpose
The Finished Goods Stock Controller is responsible for ensuring 100% inventory accuracy of all completed food products from the production line to dispatch.
This role utilizes SAP to track, reconcile, and manage inventory levels while ensuring strict compliance with food safety, traceability, and shelf-life (FIFO/FEFO) standards.
What you will contribute
- SAP & Systems Management
- Inventory Control: Perform daily reconciliations of physical finished goods against SAP inventory records.
- Transaction Management: Execute stock movements, bin locations, and inventory adjustments accurately within SAP (WM/MM modules).
- Discrepancy Investigation: Identify, investigate, and resolve any stock variances between physical counts and system data.
- Reporting: Generate daily, weekly, and monthly stock accuracy, health, and availability reports using SAP data.
- Stock Control & Traceability
- Traceability Compliance: Maintain flawless batch control and traceability records to meet BRCGS and food safety standards.
- Shelf-Life Management: Monitor product life cycles to ensure FEFO (First Expired, First Out) rotation, minimizing waste and product write-offs.
- Quarantine Management: Isolate, log, and manage non-conforming or quality-held stock in SAP and the physical warehouse.
- Stock Counting: Lead and coordinate perpetual inventory (PI) counts and annual full-site stocktakes.
- WIP Product: Accurately record and control work in process.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Production Liaising: Work closely with the production team to ensure accurate booking-in of finished goods.
- Logistics & Dispatch: Coordinate with the dispatch team to ensure the correct batches are picked and loaded for customer orders.
- Commercial & Planning: Highlight short-dated or slow-moving stock to the planning and commercial teams to facilitate quick clearance.
What you will bring
Essential Criteria
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of inventory control or stock management experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Systems: Proficient, hands-on experience using SAP (specifically Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, or Materials Management modules).
- Food Standards: Strong understanding of food safety regulations, cold chain integrity, traceability, and HACCP/BRCGS principles.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent numeracy skills with high attention to detail for spot-checking and data analysis.
Desirable Criteria
- Certifications: Forklift license (Counterbalance/Reach) or PPT license is a plus.
- Education: Qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Administration.
Shift Pattern
Mon to Fri days with level of flexibility required to suit role requirements.
