Job Title: Tax Consultant

Job Type: Contract until the 30th of December 2025 with a high possibility of extension into 2026

Location: Glasgow

Hourly: £12.35 PAYE + £1.67 holiday pay

Opportunity Overview: A fantastic opportunity has risen to temporarily join my client as a Tax Consultant. My client is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. The Firm’s employees serve clients worldwide including corporations, governments, and individuals from more than 1,200 offices in 43 countries.

Role Objective: The Tax department ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, and monitors tax regulations and legislation. In addition, it calculates reports and discloses all of the Firm’s tax-related expenses. The department also plans and manages the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies and advises Firm management and business units on business products, location and structure. Recognizing that significant benefits could be achieved by creating a dedicated Tax function based in Glasgow, a team was established in 2011 to support global direct tax reporting, compliance and technical analysis needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare tax returns and tax return work papers for my client’s non-US subsidiaries.
  2. Prepare quarterly analysis for US tax provision related to non-US taxable income and tax credit results. Perform ad-hoc tasks as required for tax compliance or provision processes.
  3. Contribute to the international team’s workpaper redesign initiative to modernize key workpapers and calculations, as well as initiatives to streamline data gathering processes.
  4. Work with the domestic tax team, local tax, legal entity controllers, global tax control, tax technology, external advisors, external auditors, and my client’s global tax team on various projects and information requests.

Requirements:

  1. Educated to degree level, or equivalent preferably in finance or accountancy.
  2. Knowledge of US GAAP/ US Tax Regulations is advantageous but not essential.
  3. Ability to think critically and self-review.
  4. Ability to prioritise workload and communicate to stakeholders.
  5. Self-motivated, with a desire to succeed and develop professionally and personally.
  6. Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment and be a team player.
  7. Confident working with colleagues in worldwide business locations.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems, in particular Excel.
  9. Awareness of deadlines and ability to prioritize workload.
