Job Description

We are recruiting for a Group Accountant to join a high-profile finance function within a large, complex organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting experience to take ownership of a broad range of IFRS matters.

Working within the Group Accounting team, you will provide interpretation and guidance on IFRS and ensure complex transactions are accounted for appropriately. You will work closely with Finance Business Partners, senior finance stakeholders and external auditors, as well as supporting strategic projects where technical accounting input is required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical accounting guidance across the Finance function and supporting compliance with Group accounting policies.
  • Advising on the accounting implications of new or amended contracts, policies and transactions.
  • Supporting strategic projects requiring technical accounting expertise.
  • Managing key accounting judgements and estimates, including going concern and impairment reviews.
  • Taking ownership of accounting for an extensive lease portfolio, including judgements, estimates and disclosures.
  • Managing provisions and associated forecasting, working cross-functionally to gather and challenge key inputs.
  • Reviewing treasury accounting matters, including hedge accounting, debt, interest accruals and capitalised interest.
  • Supporting external audit engagement on technical accounting matters.
  • Helping drive greater use of technology and AI across Technical Accounting.

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong knowledge of IFRS and experience gained within a Big 4 audit firm, an in-house technical accounting team, or a similarly complex organisation.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 23, IAS 37, IAS 39, IFRS 7, IFRS 9 and IFRS 16.
  • Experience dealing with complex accounting judgements and estimates.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capability.
  • The ability to translate complex accounting matters into clear, commercially relevant advice.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and external auditors.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and an interest in using technology to improve finance processes.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their technical accounting experience within a large, complex and highly visible finance environment, with exposure to a wide variety of accounting issues and senior stakeholders.
