What you’ll do:
- Manage conflict checks for every new matter globally by thoroughly analysing information sources and consulting with partners to resolve both legal and commercial conflicts of interest.
- Review all new client and matter opportunities using internal and external data to advise partners on conflicts and information barrier management across jurisdictions.
- Identify wider risks including reputational issues, sanctions, financial crime, and commercial conflicts through comprehensive Matter Risk Assessment processes.
- Advise partners and lawyers regarding conflict check outcomes, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Liaise closely with the Financial Crime team during Matter Risk Assessments to ensure robust risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Foster strong working relationships between the London team and international offices such as Sydney by facilitating smooth handovers and effective communication.
- Actively contribute to building an effective, mutually supportive global conflicts team by sharing knowledge, expertise, and fostering inter-personal connections.
- Influence the design and optimisation of technology solutions for conflicts management and information barrier projects by providing valuable insights based on practical experience.
- Maintain accurate records of client terms, retainers, monitoring information barriers, and ensure compliance with firm-wide risk management procedures.
- Support the efficient onboarding of new clients by tracking approvals, matter inception processes, financial crime checks, anti-money laundering protocols, and other regulatory requirements.
What you bring:
- Hold a law degree or LPC qualification demonstrating foundational legal knowledge relevant to conflict management within professional services.
- Possess at least one year’s experience working in a professional services environment focused on conflicts advisory; candidates with less experience may be considered if they can demonstrate required competencies.
- Demonstrate understanding of legal regimes governing conflicts of interest and confidential information within international law firms.
- Show familiarity with US conflicts rules as an additional advantage for cross-jurisdictional matters.
