A leading blue chip investment trust, supported by a successful professional services business, is seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join its Manchester finance team. The Role

As a Senior Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of supplier invoices, managing payment queries, maintaining financial records, and supporting accounts payable controls. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure smooth financial operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies
  • Enter and maintain transactions within the ERP and accounts payable systems
  • Respond to supplier and internal payment queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Support the billing team with client recharge processing
  • Monitor accounts payable controls and ensure compliance with company policies
  • Resolve escalated supplier issues and maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Manage Zendesk tickets in line with agreed service level agreements
  • Support audit requests and provide relevant documentation when required
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy

About You

You will have previous accounts payable experience, ideally within a shared services environment, and be confident managing high transaction volumes while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in accounts payable or transactional finance
  • Strong understanding of invoice processing, payment management, and reconciliations
  • Experience handling employee expenses and supplier queries
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general systems knowledge
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience with SAP Concur, Sage Intacct, or similar finance systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
