Job Description
A great opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a growing business near Accrington, working on a range of projects for clients across multiple industry sectors.
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in reacting to customer and supplier quality issues, while striving for 'right first time' delivery by applying cutting-edge quality and continual improvement techniques. Working with a team of engineers and inspectors, you'll collaborate on diverse projects and investigations to drive impactful improvements across the business.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Quality Issue Resolution: Serve as the focal point for all quality issues in assigned departments, ensuring timely and effective remedies.
- Project Management: Lead and manage improvement projects focused on cost of quality and schedule adherence.
- Root Cause Analysis: Manage Material Review Board (MRB) activities and conduct Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions to address non-conformances.
- Process Mapping: Map existing processes using suitable tools to understand Suppliers, Inputs, Outputs, & Customers
- Risk Reduction: Develop processes to facilitate risk reduction and promote lean working practices.
- Documentation: Create and implement Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions to support departmental needs.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal and external customer and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive improvement activities and participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Quality Tools Deployment: Develop and deploy key quality tools such as FMEA, 5Why, 8D Problem Solving, and support others in their use.
- Performance Measurement: Measure and report performance KPIs, including non-conformance and corrective action trends, audit compliance, and improvement activities.
To be considered for this position you'll need a proven background in quality engineering, with experience in a manufacturing environment that ideally holds complex regulations such as automotive, aerospace, oil & gas or nuclear. Your application should demonstrate a strong working knowledge of problem solving and improvement methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why and FMEA, as well as examples of implementing corrective actions and CI initiatives.
