I'm partnered with a well-established and rapidly growing FMCG manufacturer in the North West seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Blackburn. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong expertise to join a forward-thinking business with ongoing investment in people, plant, and processes.
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off - days & nights (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am). No Saturday night shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will work closely with production and engineering leadership.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment.
- Attend breakdowns and complete mechanical & electrical repairs efficiently.
- Ensure all maintenance activity is logged and recorded accurately.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Liaise with engineering management regarding parts, spares, and improvements.
- Work as part of a small multi-skilled engineering team.
- Support and mentor junior engineers where required.
- Promote and maintain high Health & Safety standards.
- Contribute ideas to improve reliability, process flow, and engineering best practice.
- Support building maintenance as directed.
Requirements:
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, ideally within an FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, fillers, wrappers, mixers etc.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines.
- Understanding of HACCP, COSHH and GMP (desirable).
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Experience with continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures.
