We are looking for a skilled and experienced Power BI Developer to join a specialist insurance team, based in Manchester City Centre. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming complex business data into insightful, interactive, and visually appealing reports and dashboards. This role requires expertise in Power BI, data modelling, and strong problem-solving skills to ensure data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

Power BI Developer Responsibilities:

  • Gather, understand, and document business requirements from stakeholders.

  • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and KPIs.

  • Perform data analysis, clean, and transform data from various sources into usable formats for reporting.

  • Design and develop complex data models using Power Query and Power Pivot.

  • Design and implement visually compelling and user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Develop custom visuals, reports, and analytical features tailored to business needs.

  • Maintain and optimise Power BI reports for high performance, ensuring fast load times and easy navigation.

  • Connect Power BI to various data sources, including databases, Excel, APIs, and third-party applications.

  • Develop and implement data pipelines and dataflows to automate the refresh and updates of reports.

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness across all reports and dashboards.

  • Monitor and enhance the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Ensure data security and privacy compliance according to company policies and regulations.

  • Proven experience working with Power BI, including Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, and Power BI Service.

  • Strong SQL skills for querying databases and data manipulation.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

  • Experience with data visualisation best practices and creating custom Power BI visuals.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.) is a plus.

  • Experience with other BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, etc.) is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy and continuous improvement.

  • Experience with Power BI embedded analytics.

  • Knowledge of data lakes and big data technologies.
