An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Facilities Engineer to join a leading advanced manufacturing organisation at a state-of-the-art production facility in South Wales, on an initial 12 month contract.
Supporting a highly regulated production environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant operation of site utilities, building services and facilities infrastructure.

The Role
You'll initially be on a 12 month contract with the view to this role turning permanent upon completion of a major project.
As Facilities Engineer, you will take ownership of maintaining and improving site-wide facilities and utility systems, ensuring they consistently support manufacturing operations.
Working closely with engineering, operations, quality, health & safety and external contractors, you will combine hands-on technical support with project delivery, compliance management and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure the safe and reliable operation of site utilities and building services, including:
- HVAC and air handling systems
- Steam and hot water systems
- Chilled water systems
- Compressed air systems
- Electrical distribution
- Water treatment and purified water systems
- Drainage and building fabric

Develop and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules through the site's CMMS.

Diagnose and resolve facilities and utility failures, identifying root causes and implementing permanent corrective actions.

Manage critical spare parts and support asset reliability activities.

Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.

Maintain inspection, examination and certification records for statutory assets.

Support permit-to-work, contractor control and isolation procedures.

Participate in risk assessments and change control processes.

Scope, plan and deliver facilities improvement projects and minor capital investments.

Manage external contractors and service providers to ensure safe and cost-effective delivery of work.

Support energy reduction and sustainability programmes.

Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and asset records.

Provide technical guidance and support to engineering and operational teams.
About You
We are keen to speak with facilities, utilities or building services professionals from manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, FMCG, life sciences or other industrial environments.
You will ideally possess:

HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

Proven experience within a facilities, utilities or building services engineering role.

Strong understanding of statutory compliance requirements, including:
- LOLER
- PUWER
- PSSR
- F-Gas Regulations
- Legionella / ACoP L8
- Electricity at Work Regulations (EAWR)

Experience using CMMS systems and managing preventative maintenance programmes.

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

A proactive, hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
